Cup holder

Just bought a 2000 6spd SB SC 4x4 ! The first time I went to put a 20oz bottle of soda in the dash cup holder, it dropped right through to the floor. What the heck kind of cup holder has no bottom to it? I've been researching this topic for a week or so and I know I have the "cup holder" as opposed to the "cup thrower" style, however, am I missing some parts or is this the design? I've pulled it completely out for inspection and it doesn't look like anything has been broken off. I see others on ebay that seem to have rectangular pieces at the bottom of the holders. Can't see very well from the pics, but I assume these are what I need. Can anyone shed some light on this and point me in the right direction?

You should have the rectangular piece that you are seeing on the ebay pics. I would either look for one that is broken for parts or find a new one to replace your old one. On the plus side, if you find a deal on one that's not the correct color, you can swap parts.

I can't see on mine where that piece would have been attached, or broken off from. Can you describe to me how it attaches and how it works? Does it drop down when the cup holder is pulled out, or is it in a fixed position? If fixed, couldn't something just be glued in place to serve the same purpose. Thanks for the reply.

There should be a piece drop down when you pull out the cup holder, which is where the bottom of your cup would usually sit.

Yes, this is the kind I've seen the most for sale. However, I also just found one like this.

That might be the older style cup holder, not 100% sure though.

I would hit up ebay, could snag one off there for fairly cheap I'm sure.
