emergency brake light not going out

hey guys. i have a 2002 f250, it has started getting a little cold here and after i start it and release my parking brake the light doesn't go out and then beeps when i try to drive. i know that the brake isn't on because i can drive but its just an annoyance. any ideas what the problem could be?

Look at the switch at the top of the mechanism the pedal is attached to. In an inch or so from the rubber pad you step-on there is a plastic plunger (pin sw) that pushes up when the brake is off and the pedal is fully up.
