Automatic door locks, whats the problem???

Okay my auto door locks havnt worked since i got the truck, dad told me that our mechanic said it was like a 600 dollar repair.... not sure about that one lol,

heres what happens, when you hit the button you can hear a click in all four doors even see a little movement, yet they dont unlock or lock, wondering what this is and if it is something i could fix??

Any suggestions would help

Thanks guys

Sounds like the motor is binding or way out of place. Only way to tell is to pull the door panel and look. In most cases, these trucks can be fixed by any "shade tree mechanic" in a matter of hours.

What exactly would i be looking for? never messed with anything like it before but i have no problem taking them out and working on them, theyre no good to me like they are, and is it normal that all 4 doors would have this problem at the same time? it would seem to me (course i know absolutly nothign about it) that it would be something in a switch or something to cause all 4 to do it?

i dunno though, thank you and i look forward to read any anwsers you have for me

It's easy. I used a penny cut to the size of the thermal resistor instead of aluminum foil. It should last longer, by the way they were Canadian pennys.

my door locks did this, it was just corrosion for sitting, just sprayed lube into the lock for a couple of days and they worked.

when i went through this on mine i think it was a green clip but anyway it hinges on the side closest to you and has a lip on the that it clips too on the other. i took a pick and reached around and pulled it off. out of four i only broke one the dealer had it for like $3.00.

My door lucks are iffy too. When i hit the unlock button on my remote it unlocks both, but when I'm in the cab i have to manually lock the passenger side door, the switch doesn't work. It's a far stretch even for a 6' 4" guy lol
