I got two 42mm ones and put them both in the dome light on my truck. Instead of putting one in the center holder, I put one on each side of the holder. Works perfect and plenty bright. The ones on the switches on each side I put black lights in them.

I bought a plate of 30 LEDs off ebay for about 20 bucks and it has worked for over a year and it is obnoxiously bright.

Stock bulb should be a 578 (44mm X 10mm)

42x10 will work fine though, 44x10 LEDs are a little harder to find.

Look at superbrightled . com
or
autoillumination . com

Oh, and if you have lighted vanity mirrors autoillumination has bulbs for those too
