2001 F250 SuperCab - Car seats/Child Restraints

Howdy!

I recently purchased a 2001 F250 SuperCab (I know, I know, I need to post pics ). I have been trying to secure the carseat "tether" to the middle seat on the rear bench, but I am having difficulty getting the seat back to pull away enough to secure the clip.

Has anyone encountered this? The manual isn't all that helpful, as it mentions the tethers, but makes it sounds like they're easy to get to...

Thanks...

Not sure what to tell ya, On mine there is a lever, but it is a crew cab, and not set up quit the same as the extended cabs. Maybe someone else will come along and see this before to long.

Oh and by the way, we need some pics

Should have a lever on one side of the seat. Where you at. I know in the state of michigan if you show to police department and ask them to check the seat they will install it properly for you. Maybe your state is the same way and you won't have to do it. By the way We need pictures and welcome to the site.

Scott, he has a super cab so it is not the same as a crew cab. It is set up different and the back seat does not move like in the four door trucks.

I know I believe the extended cab trucks the seat bottom moves. But I just went to the local sherriffs office and had them install my base for me. That way I knew it was in correctly and didn't have to worry about a cop being a prick looking to ticket me for anything and everything.

Thanks for the replies guys!

The seat back seems to be unmovable. I like the thought of taking it to a police/sheriff station. I'll make an appointment and do that.

Thanks guys. Love the site, and I'll get pics up in the next couple of days.

I would call them up and see if they have a specific time for that or if you just show up they will send some one out to make sure your seat is in correctly. My wife and I just had our son a month ago and 2 weeks prior to his birth I went to the police station they sent out an available officer to check out my installation and give me there approval on it. Made me feel better.

The funny (and embarrassing) thing is I WORK at our Sheriff's Department. I just didn't know we had certified carseat experts until I asked.

Going to take both vehicles into work on Monday to get them checked out. The local AAA checked our van when our 1-year old was first born, so I know it's right...

But she can go forward-facing now, so I'll get them both done.

Thanks again sir!

No problem, what is they are not experts on car seats but they do know the state laws on properly securing your child in a vehicle. Most police stations hold a clinic where I live for first time parents to show them how to properly secure a car seat rear facing and forward facing. It is a nice clinic they also go over the laws as far as what wieght for what car seat and how big they have to be so you do not need a car seat no more. The clinic is about 30 minutes long and has alot of info. Since you work at the sherriffs office maybe you should talk to the sherriff about setting up a clinic like this. It is usually held at the public library where I live.

I think I'll do just that. We went to a seminar that was held at a Baby News store just before we had the baby.

We have a CSO (Community Services Officer) that is a federally licensed carseat expert. Amazing what you find out when you just ask.

Great to meet another person in the business. I work as a systems specialist for the sheriff's department. I support both detention and law enforcement applications.
