Ok my truck needs a radio and I look through the stock dash hole where it should be and I see nothing. I have the antenna wire but no other plugs to attach to. Does anyone have a picture of the stock harness? I dont know where the stock harness would be attached but it looks like there are a few open spots for a harness to plug into. I just don't see a picture or diagram showing what I am missing.

I will go take pics. I have an 02 crew cab 4x4 diesel f250. There literally is no wiring for a radio, but it had one before. I think it was stolen or something but I have watched install videos and there should be a stock plug dangling there but there isn't lol.
I can't find any cut wires but I did find a RCA cable under the carpet. It has one speaker in the passenger door, so maybe I can trace the speaker wires back from it.Sure would be awesome if I could do this without paying a shop.
you can do it, but you have to pull the dash off and get behind there to look for wires... there is no "oh there it is" moment if someone hacked it up.
I found a cluster of these connectors that I am unfamiliar with. They appear to be taped into the stock harness and I assume there are male counterparts that plug into these? Does this look like the place an aftermarket stereo was attached?
I also found this plug hanging. Is this the stock plug for a basic fleet model radio? I expected to see a more elaborate plug end but this was a fleet truck originally.
i will start with i HATE wiring
but that looks like the remnants of a hack install after a hack theft to me
I am sure with the wiring codes zman provided you can do this...I am also sure it might be worth a hundred bucks to sit back and drink a beer while someone else deals with the headache :thumb:
or maybe that's just me :look:
Yeah that's what mine looks like. And the antenna should be a fat orange cable. I pulled the aftermarket double DIN stereo out of mine and gave it away. Didn't like it. Whoever did that hack job install was a real idiot but I think a stock one will slide right in when I get around to it.
We got wok and woll now Elmer, literally the simplest stereo install I've ever done. Thanks for pushing me to find the wire harness, it was tucked away just enough that I didn't see it until I got up under the dash best I could.
nice :thumb:
I was afraid the fleet guys hacked the original harness to install a cb radio or something from what yohu were pulling outta there :hehe:
what did you install?
