So I have a 2002 f250 that I recently swapped the dash with an 08. I have most of everything already swapped. The only thing I have to wire now is the steering column and headlights. I'm in need of a full wiring schematic from the 02 superduty and an 08 superduty. That way I can wire up the headlights, the ignition system, air bags, and the instrument cluster. If anyone could be of help, I'd greatly appreciate it. The only thing I've heard is that, the 02 is voltage wired, and the newer donor truck is based on resistant. I have all wiring from both vehicles, even the components.

Figure I'd throw some eye candy out there for you guys. I put in the new overhead storage, 08 mirrors, custom made raptor grille, while waiting to finishing up the wiring. Also added a pic of the axle assembly from the donor truck, that will soon go in. Tell me what you guys think.

Looks like it's coming together. I'm about to do the same swaps. I like that you're using the '08 column/wheel. I was planning on using an F150 wheel but might hold out and see how your wiring works out. :thumb:

I think you should come do mine that's what I think! 😂

Wiring should be done by Saturday. Once complete I'll write an extensive wire to wire diagram with everything included. There will be resistors added throughout to transition from voltage reading to resistance. That's whats taking the longest to accomplish. If only the dash changed and not the wires from 07 itd be so simple. For the wheel I only need the blinkers, high/low, airbags and ignition wires. The center console will be the other wiring nightmare. I'm hoping not as much, seeing as it is from an 05 f150 KR. Really haven't dived into that yet. First I'm trying to get the truck to run with the new equipment and not have to chase wiring Gremlins. But as we speak more parts are enroute. If anyone has rear 08 door panels, please let me know. I also need the driver side panel as mine was from an extended cab. I need the CC so I can have window switches. I have other parts that I'm in need of too, just message me if you have any extras lying around from upgrades or swaps.

Ok so I didn't trust my wiring skills, so I took the truck in to get wiring done for the column. Three weeks now, they got nothing accomplished and didn't even start and now claim it can't be done. So are there any master electrician out there with any knowledge of this ever being done? I have schematics of both year models but I don't know the resistance on the wires and such. Any more input or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I'm pretty upset about it. I'm back on the hunt for a new shop. I don't have the time at the moment to try and tackle it myself right now. I'm preparing for the field for the next two weeks, so I'm really hoping I can find a local shop to have it ready around April 1st.

Update. While shop is about to begin the wiring I went ahead and installed new headlights, taillights and bumper. Need to grab a winch and some lights to mount up in it next.

See if the shop would be willing to give you a wiring diagram after they are done. I am sure there are a lot of interested parties to know how to wire up the wheel. It seems to be the only hurdle in a complete swap now.

I have all wiring schematics for both trucks now that I've collected over the past few months. I'll have them take note on how they got it to convert directly over with the resistors and ect. I'm sure some will be used.

3. Blue/gray - key sense (I think)
4. Black

Clockspring
1. Purple/brown - air bag driver 1 (pos or neg?)
2. Black/purple - ground (cross car beam, 3rd stud)
3. Yellow/red - relay horn

2. Blue/white - starter (I think)
3. Blue/gray
4. White/orange - ignition 1 (I think)
5. brown/yellow - accessory, heater blower 1 (I think)

Need some wiring help/diagrams

I have a 2002 f250, I need the wiring codes and colors for everything on the column.
Such as clockspring, key switch, ignition, interlock, multifunction, and the tow/haul

I'd prefer if you had pinout for each connector. So I can see what it is, color and location in the connector. Thanks guys!

So I'm almost done with the cluster. Just got to throw some LEDs in there and wire em up.

I started by stripping the 08 board completely. Then painted it to help with the warping. I then used electrical tape as a buffer to mount the milage screen. I proceed to then drill holes for the LEDs onto the '08 board. Afterwards I mounted the old '02 motors on to the '08 board. I'll update pics as I installed the lights and wire everything up.

You are coming along well! I applaud you for the determination on the steering column swap. I have not found ANYONE that has completed this yet. I still have to work on the headlight switch as I just have not had time yet for my 08 swap. It's the last thing I have left. For someone that does not know wiring much you are truly making some great headway!

Almost complete with my dash swap from 02 to 08

So I'm working on column and Im almost done with the ignition.

Here's some info here that I used. Just need my starter to get power. And I'll be good to go.

"Column.
i marked the shift cable in part position, cut the shift cable mount off of my 02 column and welded it in place on the 08 column, same location just opposit side of the 02. use your marked cable for spacing.

for electronics, wiring is posted earlier in this post, i forget where. just connect wires how they are labeled and match them.
wipers are wire to wire control wise and work great. hazards on the 02 are switched, and momentary pulse on the 08.
you can use 5 relays in a impulse latched setup.
Cruise wires correlate also. but resistances are different in the controls so they will not work.
shift interlock is wire to wire, there was confusion on 1 wire from park input on 08, connect it to the 12v wire on 02.
air bag wires same.
i used 5 relays for lights and 5 for ignition
all relays are powered, and groundsncontrolled theough ignition and multifunction
You will power the relays for accy, run, run, run strt, and start. and ground them through the ignition switch.
the 02 column uses contacts to control power flow, so just match wires up and connect to relays.
there are 5 power and 5 outputs. 1 for each listed above.
the 5 other relays for lights,
power in out from headlight switch. to multifunction
high, flash to pass and 1 for each turn signal.
i bought relays with base from amazon.
50$worth.
ill see if i can find my schematic i drew up,

08 ignition switch is powered pin 8and 9 blue/red
relays will be grounded. sorry may have mis spoke in last comment by saying its grounded.
either way it will work.
pin 3 blue/gray is key sense
**following wires will control correlating relays... using pins 85 and 86 coil control
pin1 white/orange is run/start
pin5 violet/green is accessory
pin 7 brown/yellow is run ***truck needs 2 run relays to flow full current, im doing this on a 7.3 diesel. **control 2 relays with this wire
pin 10 blue/white is start

relay power circuits on 02. use pins 30 and 87
accessory .....lightgreen/violet-darkblue/lightgreen
run...... yellow -red/black
run.....yellow-gray/yellow
run/start..... the 2 smaller wires, i may be wrong on the db/or wire.... red/light green-darkblue/orange
*j* if 6.0... white/yellow-darkblue/orange
start.....ran a power wire from fuse block terminal to dark green

NOTE*** I MAY HAVE SWITCHED LG/VT AND DB/OG. PUT SMALLER WIRES ON THE RUN/START RELAY" - Cory

Here are wiring color codes:

08 ignition-
1. Blue/red - constant 12v (2 merged)
2. Blue/white - starter
3. Blue/gray - key sense
4. White/orange - ignition 1
5. brown/yellow - accessory, heater blower 1
6. Purple - accessory (supposed to be purple/green, but isn't)

02 ignition-
1. Green - starter (voltage supplied at start)
2. Green/purple - 12v constant (voltage all times)
3. Yellow - 12v constant (voltage all times)
4. Gray/yellow - accessory (voltage in run)
5. Yellow (a 2nd one) - 12v constant (voltage all times)
6. Blue/green - 2nd accessory (fused)
7. Red/black - accessory (voltage in run)
8. Blue/orange - voltage supplied at a times
9. Red/green - ignition (voltage supplied start and run)

So I used this as an example:

Run Start
1. Blue orange to pin#30 (02)
2. Red/green to pin#87 (02)
3. Ground to pin#85 (dash sub frame)
4. Orange/white to pin#86 (08)
5. Nothing to pin #87a

But not I gotta figure out how to run a wire from fuse block terminal to my starter for power.

This is the biggest leap into it. Once I get starter to engage and work properly, I can move forward with multifunction switch and drive with column swap.

I'm not complete yet. Im still trying to figure out how to wire from my fuse block terminal to my starter wire.

I think once I get that, the truck will crank. Then just the lights are left via multifunction switch.

I need a diagram of the 2002 clockspring. I have a basic wheel with only cruise control.
My button layout is:

Left side:
On
Off

Right side:
Reset
Set/accelerate
Coast

So far I have figured out:
Clockspring (2 connectors)
1st connector
1. Black/pink - key sense
2. Green/orange -
3. Blue -
4. Black -
5. Yellow -
6. Light blue/black -
2nd connector
7. Gray/orange - airbag (don't know if pos or neg)
8. Gray/white - airbag (don't know if pos or neg)
**But the first connector connects to another harness**
That harness plug is:
1. Black/pink - key sense
2. Gray/red -
3. Blue -
4. Black -
5. Light blue/red -
6. Green/black

I have attached an image explaining how I went about wiring my ignition. Now my truck is a 2002 so this may not work for your vehicle if a different year. Also everything has been tested minus the starter. It will be tested soon, just need a new relay first.

Also if you have any information that can be inputed in to the excel spreadsheet, please reply. I want to get this information out there, because I know there are a lot of guys and gals out there wanting to do this but feel intimidated.
