heater/ air selection problem

Hey guys. I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out whats wrong with my heater. The selecter that puts the air to the floor, defrost, panel or the a/c will not work. It will turn the air off in the off position but when it is on any other position, it will blow air out the defrost. Any ideas?

Try looking under the passenger side of the dash. There is a Vaccume operated solonoid that controls the cabin air. Check for loose hoses. They could be pulled loose from someone's feet. Also check behind the heater controls for loose hoses and wires.

You described the exact same problem I just started having a week or so ago and you beat me to the punch asking for help. Good luck getting heat back to the floor. I'll let you know how I make out with it.
