I live in Colorado and removed mine with no ill effect either. It gets pretty cold here and I have no starting problems at all. The heater is only activated during idle in cold temps to keep combustion temps up so the cylinder walls don't get washed with fuel. It will only throw a code when checking for codes. It will not throw the Check Engine Light. Also it will not allow for a cylinder contribution test if it is disconnected. You can get the code elimininator to prevent the code........
