programig options

i have a 2002 f-350 automatic with 97000 on it. i just picked it up not long ago so for the most part its stock. i do have an edge evolution that i got cheap of my buddy that i have been running. eventually id like to get stacks, intake, guages, lift, etc. but before i even think about the lift i wanna get some performance mods on it. my question is once i get the money for a new tuner which would u recommend? ive been throwing around the idea of a custom flahed SCT tuner from elite diesel, or a DP tuner. i would prefer to have shift on the fly capability, but the SCT would allow me to read and clear engine codes. but since i have the edge i could use that. any suggestions on which of the 2 would be better?

If I had to choose between the two I would go with DP Tuner.

I would look into custom chips from DP Tuner Tony Wildman, Power Hungry Performance and the like just to name a few

Edge? better get rid of that, unless you want to blow out your tranny....get a custom tuned chip such as a TW, Dp tuner etc. etc., along with gauges and the exhaust and your truck will run efficient/safely

i think you should be running gauges no matter what.... that should def be your next mod.

as far as a tuner i would only go with a custom tuned chip like the TW, DP, or PHP.. i would also beef up your transmission a lil bit.. the 4R100 has a lot to be desired in the strength department...

if you have any questions please let me know.. we can give you a whole package deal on the whole setup that would save you some money

gauges are deffinately first on my list.. i think im gonna get the isspro set.. boost and egt. ive seen a couple sets in a few trucks like mine it its almost a perfect factory match and ive heard good things about them. and i think im probably gonna look into a DP tuner next. as far as the tranny goes do u have any suggestions on that? my truck being an 02 has the factory trans temp guage and ive been running with the edge and its still running at normal temps.

The factory trans temp gauges is completely inaccurate. You need an aftermarket unit.

i can always get another trans temp guage with the kit. its not much more for the extra gauge..

what dave said... you an aftermarket trans temp gauge.... the stocker wont really come on until its too late.

as far as beefing it up it all depends on how much cash you want to through into it... you can do a simple valvebody or you can do a full upgrade...
