My DIY Intake

Here is my intake i did the other night. I used a military hummve air filter and a few parts from home depot and 25 dollars later there it was. Let me know what else i should or shouldnt do thanks.

Looks good Been thinking about moving my batteries to the front of the box to free up some space under the hood.

No that is a 4inch elbow from napa just the air filter is from the hummve, it has a 6inch hole instead of a place to clamp to, so i just bought a small metal reducer from 6 to 4 and jb welded it and shot it with a couple coats of textured rustoleum.

you just loss like 50 HP you know that right? reason is your not getting cold air from outside the truck your just sucking in all the warm air from your engine bay? The DIY intake it a terrible mod unless you have some kinda system to where it allows u to pull fresh air from outside the truck

99 psd, should i make like a thin metal scoop like thing to bring fresh air in??? under the truck or straight to the zoodad hole?

When your moving fresh cold air is rushing into the engine compartment. Plus how would a cold air intake work since the air is going to heat up going threw the turbo then cool off once it goes threw the aftercooler?

true u gotta point.. idk my dad friend used to be a tech guy at ford and worked on all the diesels and tuned them.. I showed him my truck and he looked at the engine and saw the DIY intake and he just shook his head and was like u just lost 50hp with that and started expaining a bunch of **** i couldnt understand... ill talk to him again and post again when i get a straight answer.
