Got my new chip!!!

Got the DP f5 brand new in the box,with the remote switch, and all the paperwork (even the sticker), from a guy who never got around to installing it.It has 3 tunes on it... stock,40hp tow and 80 econo.$150!!! Yeah I have plans to throw some extra tunes on it,but for right now I'm just going to enjoy the good deal.Hell,I really only need those tunes anyway!!! Is there a thread on installing these chips on here? This is my first diesel as a personal truck so I'm learning as I go.It came with instuctions but I was just wanting to read up and look at some better pics.

What year was the truck it was to go on and what year is yours?

A chip for a 99 to a 2001 will work fine, a chip from a 2002-2003 will work fine. I chip from a 99-2001 will NOT work on a 2002-2003 and vice versa...

They are the same chip and can be reburned but the PCM family is differant.

You also better have the supporting mods done first as well, at least if you want to have your truck last. Gauges, intake, exhaust, and support the auto trans. When you get all this done then install your chip ( if PCM codes work) and then PLEASE fill out your sig so we know what you have done to your truck.

mine came with instructions in the box. IT's pretty straight forward once you pull the ECU.

Can't speak for DP's tunes but with Tony's you can put his stock chip in and run it witout fear so long as there is nothing in tow.

Yup,I'm waiting to install it till I get my gauges,intake, and exhaust.But you guys got me worried about if it's gonna need to be reburned or not.....The chip is for a 2000 and mine's an 03.I hope it will work.I figured the 7.3 psd crew cab 4x4 form 99-03 were pretty much the same....****,will it work?

Nope, you will have to send it in for a reburn. Like I posted above, a 99-01 chip will work in any year truck in those years... a 2002 and a 2003 will do the same within those years...

But a 2000 NVK will not work with your 2003 code (cant recall what it is right now.)

well,my good deal turned out not be as good as I thought,but I guess you learn some lessons the hard way!Anybody need a dp chip for a 2000? LOL!!! I'll be talking to Jody tomorrow,he replies to emails really quick.I guess I'll go ahead and put some other tunes on it anyway...............$300 later!!!!!!!!!!
