trans gauge

installing a new set of guages on a 99 and was wondering were the best place was to install the sending unit for the tranny temp also what is the upper limit for temp?thanks in advance for any info!!!

for that year you dont want to see anything hotter than 200

Ford considers anything under 230 perfectly normal. Heck their trans gauge don't even show warm until 280!!! That is why they shouldn't even be looked at. Sustained temps over 200 would tell me I want more cooling, but I sure wouldn't pull over at 200. Pull over time for me is 220. BTW The warmest I have seen mine is 190 and that was backing up a 10K TT uphill for about 40 min in 95 degree ambient. All I am running is the single 6.0 cooler.

Agreed. 200 just means its time to look for added cooling.
