Best Chip Tuner or Programmer?

Hey guys I have a question. A friend asked me what the best tuner or programmer is for a 2002 7.3 with an auto. I kinda wanna find something that won't kill the trans. Thanks in advance!

Not another "BEST" Thread!!!! What is the "Best" for one guy is trash to someone else. There is no "Best" tuner, period. Please use the search engine on the forum as this question is asked at least once a week.
I will say the two most popular tuners are DP and TW. You can look and see this is peoples signatures. You can see which one I am using and I am very happy.

Don't get pissy, This type of thread usually turns into a pissing match so it is avoided by most like gonorrhea or the mistress at a wedding. Notice the times it has been read compared to the number of responses.


For the time being I am running DP. I have run TW and PHP(way before Bill was PHP) and they are all good. I have herd good things about DI and Swamps. Come to think of it, I have herd of Cale tuning trucks as well with great success. Lets not forget Tadd at Elite or Dennis at TS and I apologize now for those I have missed. I would recommend PM'ing some folks and see what is said.

their is no Best chip... but their are good ones... my suggestions is for him to get a custom tuned chip like TW, DP, or PHP

Today at the Left Coast Diesel dyno day we were graced with a 7.3 with a 6 gun staked with a "chip", the owner said chip but did not know what that meant. The dealer told him it had a chip in the truck...... Anyway,,,,,,,,,,,

It made 253hp with the 6-gun on level 4 and it made 249hp on #6.

LOL... wow... i knew they were bad but not that bad lol.... please tell me their was another 7.3L with a custom tuned chip that showed him whats up on the dyno
