Exhaust need advice please

OK...I have an 03 F-350 7.3 crew cab 8' bed. It is my daily driver. I have a boat that's around 5K that I tow from time to time. The truck is stock with the exception of a DP Tuner. The only mods I run are econ. and tow....no performance or race mods.

I want to get rid of the stock exhaust. Looking for a better sound and to make her breath better. I don't want to get too loud....remember its my daily driver and I tow the boat on long trips with the family so it can't be too anoyingly loud.

I am thinking along the lines of straight pipe 4" from the turbo back. From what I read there is alot of restriction in the factory down pipe. Would this be too loud for what I'm trying to acheive?? Should I just go with stock exhaust with mufler delete?

I can buy 4" turbo back from shopdiesel.com with mufler delete for $290.00 to my door. I'm not wanting to spend a grand on an exhaust.

Suggestions/comments pleast?

Agree. I just put a sliverline 4" on mine with the muffler installed in the loud direction. tHe truck is as quiet or more than stock at idle. Under load it just sounds nice when outside the truck. Inside you just hear the engine. YOu will notice more turbo whine when the windows are down but it sounds nice. Fitment was flawless.

Any suggestions on best 4" straight pipe set-up or where to buy? What about the one from shopdiesel.com that I listed?

Silverline. Perfect pain free fit and uses stock hangers.

If you aren't in a hurry I would buy from one of the PS.org sponsers. I have had good luck with Raul at Stealth Automotive and ITP Diesel.

If your concern here is quiet, why are you wanting to straight pipe? Most of the 4" kits out there have really good flowing mufflers, that will keep it quiet while still helping the truck breath easier.

Maybe I didn't explain very well...I definately want it louder than stock....just not uncomfortably loud.
