not everyone on here has a bunch of mods....some even have none......ill state right now...im not sold on the 18k mod either....but it does do what people want it to.....and a lot of people on here want to have the highest power level possible that does not take too much away from a motor....while what each mod does longevity wise is arguable....i feel that the point should be brought up......especially on newer technology.........Marc

The thing people need to understand about the 18k mod is that it adds the wow factor. What I mean is that it adds power down low be tricking the icp for more oil pressure, so you feel like you gained power, but you will more than likely lose power on the top end because your hpop is been asked for more with the 18k mod, so now you have less oil in the top end. That results with poor atomization and more heat with the unburnt fuel.

in theory this would be incorrect, unless you are saying the 18k mod will weaken the pump. the pump will still think the pressures are low at high end and will try to keep them as high as it can....so at top end theoretically everything would be the same with or without the 18k mod if what you guys have said about the pumps is correct. the pump MAY not be able to keep up, but it would still put out the max pressure it was capable of...therefore the 18k mod should not take anything away from top end that already was not available before the mod......also....the mod affects the ICP signal...but it is the tricking the PCM and IDM into controlling the IPR that you actually get the performance benifit from...you are not tricking the ICP...you are just changing the signal it puts out to trick the PCM and IDM..........Marc

Whatever it tricks it is doing it at all rpm thus asking for more hpo at all rpm. So, now in the higher rpm it's asking for more volume of hpo, which the hpop is already having a hard time keeping up without the 18k mod. I have real world results, not theory on what happens when you have a 18k mod. Put a scanner on your truck without the mod and see what your hpo pressure is at wot, then do the same with the 18k mod. In lots of cases you would see better results with a 10k or 6k mod, all depending on what the condition of your hpop is.

im not being a smart alec here....im actually curious.....do you understand the way a high pressure oil system works......what causes what and what controlls what???? a bunch of guys seem to be able to throw a bunch of info on different mods out there but dont understand the way that system functions.....this is not a personal attack....dont take it that way....but its tough to give advise if you dont know how a system works.......Marc

Yes I understand, sorry if I don't word things correctly as I'm usually doing other things while responding. I'm not looking for advice, I'm simply trying to share what I know, based on my understanding and my own experiences. A lot of what you are bringing to the table seems to be more of theory and what happens on paper and sometimes what is on paper is not exactly what is going in real world results. Now I'm not bashing either, nor am I responding to be an a$$. I am simply putting info out there of real results, which sometimes is not the same as what you are saying. With that being said I think the 2 opinions are a good contrast, but the real results are hard to ignore. I don't know everything, but I share what I do know.

as i said...i was just asking for my own curiosity....and i work at a dealership and i dont even own a diesel....i have no reason to...i build my own power with gas projects...i understand the systems extrememly well but dont deal with many mods myself...so all i have to go off of is theory and on paper on a lot of this. i agree with you on the two opinion thing and such is why i quesion things that my in theory contradict the claimed results. im not trying to fight you or say what you guys are doing is an unpractical thing......although as previously said im also not sold. i just feel that with new technology someone has to look at it from the side that isnt all for it....and since im not....guess im the guy for the job

It doesn't matter how much oil the HPOP is being asked for at high RPM, it's only going to put out what it is able to, with or without 5.6k or 10k or 18k or pot or whatever.

thats kind of what my premise was when i questioned him about the comment that a truck without the mod will perform better at WOT.....the mod does not matter at that point.......Marc
