GTP-38 question

I found a guy here local that claims to have a garett GTP-38 in "good" condition.. he also says it may need rebuilt. What is invloved in rebuiling the turbo? I can get it off of him for $100 so im thinkin its a hell of a deal?

If he's giving up a 38r for 100 bucks...
1.He's an idiot
2.Its not a 38r
3.It's far from "good" shape

said gtp-38, so he may have meant the gt38, the stock turbo, didnt say the gtp38r, sooo, but if it is a 38r, why not

I guess the guy didnt know what he was talking about..in our e-mails he said it was the 38r but turns out it is the stock turbo.. I knew it was to good to be true.. o well

Just a FYI to add to this... A 38R is not rebuildable. Once dead, the only thing you can do is get a new center section...

Yes, but there is a cost differance from getting a set of bushings and install kit for $100-$200 or a complete new center section for $1400-$1600...

H2e can be rebuilt for about $80 bucks...
