6 pos (140hp) and Good Mileage???!!!

OK, so I was driving down to DC the other day to pick up my buddy from Reagan Airport and I decided to be a little froggy. I slipped the Diesel Innovations chip to the 140 horse (Xtreme) setting and got on the road. I kept my eye GLUED to the EGTs and I noticed something wierd. I'm getting LOWER EGTs while cruising than I see in either the Tow-Haul setting or the Daily setting. Now, when I get on it, it get scary with TONS of soot and forcing me to 'shift-by-boost-gauge' b/c my map fooler is still not working correctly (I goofed it.). I see the EGT's climb pretty quickly to just over 900 degrees while hard on the throttle but it settles to about 450-500 while cruising around at 60-75mph. I normally see the EGTs at 500-650 while cruising in the lower settings. Anyone else notice this or am I the only one? I'm thinking I'll keep it on the Xtreme setting for normal driving from now on and use the other settings for when my truck 'works'.

Comments, concerns, critisim, complaints?????

Where is your pyro located?

If its in the downpipe, there can be 400 degree's and more difference in temps.

Secondly, the reason your seeing lower egts, is because of the timing increase in the high setting.

Yes....it's post-turbo....I chalk up +300 degrees when getting on it. I hand calculated my mileage yesterday. Over about 850 miles, I averaged 16.5 mpg, and I get on it a lot. It seems like the last few days, I was getting further on less fuel.

I was thinking it had something to do with the difference in timing, but Twildman beat me to it. Also, I have heard about other people exp. this in the past...
