Want your thoughts & opinions!

Okay so here it goes! I am going to buy an intake, exhaust, and guages and want your input! First I have settled on a mbrp exhaust. I will go with the 409 stainless, as Im in salt country in the winter. My question is, do you all recommend the straight exhaust without the muffler, and if you do, can you order the exhaust without the muffler, or should I just order it in case I want to install it later? Probobly answered my own question lol. Okay on the intake I like the looks of the AFE II. I can only see one neg of the AFE is the oiling of the filter! Is it a pain in the butt? I like the tymar for that reason of not oiling, but I don't like the looks! Also wouldnt the Tymar flow more air? I see aem has a new no oiling filter. I suppose I could always buy that filter for the AFE? I will go with the anolog gauges no questions yet about those. I have a superchips tuner that my dad gave me. He had an 02 but recently bought and 06 and couldnt use it anymore. Okay from reading the transmissions seem to be the weak link first. I will only pull a 5000 pound boat and use a truck bed camper, so my question is what should I do for my tranny? Sorry for the long post I just want to be somewhat sure of what Im getting

personally i would go with the tymar, and no muffler. I got 16k out of my last filter and changed it because it looked dirty it still wasnt pulling any restriction on the gauge. As for the tranny, just keep up on regular service intervals and get a tranny temp guage, nothing will ruin a tranny faster than cooking it. They sell a accumaltor valve and spring kit to firm up the shifts and bump the line pressure up.

I say for the Tranny since you got low miles...do a good fluid/filter change and use Amsoil Tranny fluid, then put on a big tranny cooler with trans temp gauge to monitor it while towing. Thats my 2 cents, someone might have a better idea.

Straight pipe, AIS intake if not something like the tymar, tranny guage for sure, and you could always get it built, or get one of the kits that increases line pressure like was already stated.

I am doing the exact mods to mine that you are thinking of except I am going with the 18k. I don't need huge power but want more. I just did the tymar and man the sound of that thing is incredible. You gotta think how much your hood is not open. I am starting to rethink the MBRP though cause someone was posting about how disappointed they were with the sound of the exhaust after their install. I want NOISE outta my rig. O.K. just my

Yeah I guess a filter and fluid change would be wise! I will do that for now, and hold off on the tranny upgrades till I research somemore! Im not sure I will need them, as I will probobly keep the hp to the minimum Im trying to be practical also, as my truck is my daily driver! I am buying the gauges when I make the purchase for sure! You have a point on the tymar..... how often is the hood open!lol. Did you do the do it yourself, or actually buy the real deal? I wonder if the AFE torqe tube would work with the Tymar? So what do you think, is the mbrp the best for the 7.3? Lets face it we are doing that mod for the sound!!!lol Okay it does serve other purposes! Thanks for your input hope for more

Well I just ordered the isspro 3 gauge set with full a-piller! I also ordered a bulldog remote starter! Anybody heard of this brand? I also ordered the aih delete plug with nipple for the boost gauge, and the fooler wire, and the fumoto oil drain valve. I also ordered the husky floor liners, as they seem to be the best for my application up in the snow country! I still dont know which intake I should go with, or which exhaust system I should go with? The intake is the tougher of the two to decide on!! Oh well Im sure I will be happy no matter which way I go I will take pics as I move along. Also thinking of taking readings of my truck stock ie gas milage, trans temp, egt readings, and as I add the pieces to see what the changes are! I will keep ya all posted

Well I guess it doesn't make any dif now that you didn't go with the AFE. I have the stage I, and I'm pretty happy with it. I was concerned that I wasn't going to get as much as the stage II, but actually the guy that I bought it from told me there wasn't a big diff between them. I thought if he was willing to tell me that and save me a few $$ then he must be right. Unless someone knows otherwise. Hey, have fun going crazy on your rig.
