I'm so torn. BILL, TONY, OR JODY?!

In 4 weeks or so I will be in the market for a custom tuned chip. Finally. I know 99.99% or 7.3L owners are TW and/or DP addicts. But,
I canNOT decide for 100% sure between the "top" 3. It's down to
Tony Wildman
Power Hungry Performance
DP...

I know the TW chip smokes a good bit, and he does free re-burns. But PHP has ninja mode ... They both have a switch I like better than DP's ... but DP has the Anti-theft tune built in ...
I've gotten kinda set on TW ... but anti-theft sounds real nice ... and so does that ninja tune (WhisperMode) See PHP is looking better every day.

I need some opinions on them. Does ANYBODY have a PHP yet...? I know Bill used to do Edge stuff but he seems to not be "held back" by them anymore lol! From what I can tell those are every bit as good as a TW or DP.
But I need input, cause I just don't know which I want, mainly because PowerHungry is so "elusive and mysterious" still.

And which of the 3 doesn't beat the sh*t out of the 4R100 too bad...? I've heard Tony's great at finding shift points so there's not too much to worry about ... How's Jody or Bill?

So if Tony Wildman had an antitheft tune and Whispery/Drive-thru/NINJA tune as good as PHP's (see youtube vid) I'd be sold

Hey, just a couple of things for you to know in your decision making process...

1 - We offer a calibration called Anti-Theft (no charge) that you can choose as one of your levels.

2 - Jody has a similar calibration to Whisper Mode™ that he calls Drive-thru. You can compare the two tunes here: Compare Quiet Idle Calibrations.

3 -I certainly understand that some people might think Bill is a on the tuning scene, but the opposite is actually true. Along with Steve Cole, Bill was one of the first 7.3L tuners back in the late 90s. He also developed many of the files that are still in use today! You can check out these links to learn more about Bill's history in this industry.

Bill Cohron and Tuning - Part One
Bill Cohron and Tuning - Part Two

And here is a Post from one of our recent customers running a chip with Bill's tuning

4 - Tony Wildman is a good friend of ours and a great tuner. I don't think you'd be disappointed with one of his chips!

Hope this helps. Feel free to ask any questions you might have.

I honestly think it should all come down to who YOU are most comfortable dealing with customer service wise. All 3 of the tuners you mentioned will write great tunes for your truck. 6 of one and half dozen of the other... I'm told they all have very good customer service as well so that shouldn't be an issue. You just have to decide who you're most comfortable dealing with. That's the question you need to be asking yourself.

I have Tonys and my buddy has Jodys on his OBS and they perform equally. Tony has excellent service (I have heard Jody does too). I shoose Tony because of the free reburns and I plan to add alot to my truck in the future, so I may need them reburns. Also I like the TW knob, its more subtle and not as noticeable as the DP tuner switch.

Here is what I did... I ordered a chip from Bill at php. Here is why...

I don’t like the dp selector and I don’t like having to pay extra for the stupid selector (did I mention that I hate it?). Then DP charges you for custom tunes, BUT if you want to custom tune the custom tune you pay even more (WTF is that all about?!?!) and If you get a DP you are stuck with DP tunes only...

I you go with any other tuner they all use a TS chip and they load their own tunes on it. So if I don’t like my tunes from Bill or want to try something else, send my ts chip to tony, matt (gearhead), cale, DI, swamps, and so on and they will put their tunes on my chip for me to try or keep.

I was on the fence between TW and PHP. I ended up with PHP because I was reading some very in depth posts that Bill made on another forum about another tuners famous tune and was VERY impressed with what he had to say and why. Then he even showed the tune to back up what he was saying. I sent him an email and he called me the next day. We spent an hour on the phone talking about many things truck related and I told him I was sold, send me a chip! Now I am waiting on it. There was a little miscommunication and an issue with TS that has got my chip on hold for the moment. I have seen many posts in the past about TS sending out bad chips to the tuners, and it looks like TS is back at it again

My second choice was Tony. I have talked to him a little in emails and he also is a good guy (just a little hard to get a hold of sometimes). I also like that Tony is in fortworth, about 40 miles from me so getting the tunes worked out would be better then having to mail the chip out and wait. Tony also does free reburns if you change something (I think he is the only one that offers this)

Anyway, call the tuners and talk to them. Who ever you feel comfortable with, go with. Just remember, if you pick, DP you are stuck with them unless you want to fork out more money for the TS tuners.

The switch on the F5 is cool, especially if you get the one for the gauge pod which itself is quite subtle. However, over the years we've found a really nice place to hide the rotary switch on the TS chips that requires no drilling and lends itself perfectly to hiding the switch.

The metal, lower dash support bracket below the steering column (remove the plastic panel) has a hole right in the middle of it that is slightly oval shaped and fits the switch perfectly. The knob on the switch points down and sits in the "U" part of the bracket. This hides everything from prying eyes and make the No-Start and Valet modes more useful since nobody knows it's there. It's not difficult to reach when driving, although you lose the visual reference of the pointer on the knob.

As was mentioned, since DP only sells their chips then you are limited to only running their tuning. Practically everyone else runs TS-Performance based modules (including Sniper branded versions) which provides a much larger tuning selection should you decide to shop around a little bit.

Good luck with your decision. It's not an easy one, that's for sure.
