New on the board with a question on exhaust.

I have a 2000 F350 4x4 Crew Cab with an auto in it. It has a TS Performance 4 bank 6 position chip, Air Raid Intake, 4" Banks Exhaust (Turbo back), and guages. Now my question, I have hated this exhaust since I put it on. I have MBRP on my '03 and really like but don't want to spend the cash. What about cutting the muffler off of it and going to a straight pipe like I did on all of my 6.9's, 7.3's and 7.3 turbo's???? Is it going to make it god awful noisy, just right, or spend the money on a new 5"? If buying new, what are some recommendations from you guys????? Pretty partial to the MBRP's sound.

Also, debating on whether to put the BullyDog tranny helper kit in as well ($85.00). Any feedback on this would be appreciated.

Why is is you don't like the Banks Exhaust? The sound? Cutting the muffler off and going to a straight pipe would be what I would try i think. If you still don't like it, then.....i don't know. But i can't see why a Banks straght pipe would sound at all different that a MBRP straight pipe. Maybe it does somehow but if they are both the same size and set up the same, i don't understand why there would be a difference.

Yep, sounds just like a stock truck. Thought it would be a little more vocal. Guess I thought wrong.

Nope. Banks drop pipe, 4" pipe, muffler, 4" pipe, 5" tip. I have been thinking muffler as well. Hence, reason for thinking about taking it off.

I'd vote for taking the muffler off and getting a straight pipe. I'll be doing the same for mine soon. My 5" muffler weighs in at like 20-30 lbs. (I'll also be getting the exhaust welded and ditching the silly clamps that hold the system together.

What are you going to do with that muffler when you take it off? I have actually been looking for a "quiet" muffler with better flow than the stock exhaust. If you want to get rid of it, drop me an email and maybe I can help you offset the cost of getting your exhaust the way you want it.

Take the muffler out, stick in a straight pipe and you will surely enjoy it!
