Superchips is very common, and popular. I HAD one and would never go back to it now that I have an Edge Evolotion. The Evolution is a much better plug and play option than the Superchips in my opinion. The Edge has much more to offer than the Superchips. But then again the Edge is put to shame compaired to a curtom tuned chip like TS or DP. which will be my next upgrade.

The last time I priced them, (at least a year ago) I was able to get a DP with 4 programs for $40 more than the SuperChips tuner. With TS or DP you can switch on the fly. I had the SCT first and went to a DP- no comparison on the advertised hp settings. The high setting on the SCT feels like the 60 setting on my DP.

on edit- Thought I should mention that I'm not saying SCT is a waste of money. You will see a performance increase as well as a mileage increase. For a little more money you can get a lot more performance. Don't forget about guages when you start modifying for performance.

For what it's worth. Anyone who has every been in the racing sceen has heard of the legendary MSD Electrical systems (They are by far the leader in ignition and electrical systems). Well, MSD recently bought Superchips and Edge. This means there should be a little extra engineering brought into both of these two companies now. Still doesn't mean there the best, but I've had both and love my Edge Juice W/ attitude it has so much to offer at the touch of a button and on the fly...

Superchips aren't noted for there soot making ability at all.
Look into a TS or DP custom tuner if you want a smoke tune!

Correct me if I am wrong I have heard that superchips programmer is a fairly safe tuner as far as EGT's go. But the added power is not going to throw you back in your seat...

This is true of the 6.0's but we're talkin 7.3's.

As for power, you can't beat the custom burned chips like DP and Tony Wildman. Hard to beat the smoke they can produce too if you get the program burned onto the chip...
