lifter pump mod
When doing this mod do you tie into the rubber line before the fuel pump?Or do you have to run new lines from tank up?

A helper or lift pump needs to be placed as close to the tank as possible. The lines between the tank and the pump should be replaced to eliminate the factory fittings that allow air into the fuel system when under a vacuum. This is what causes a lot of the diesel cackle noise on the 7.3's dead head injector system. Normally this mod is performed in conjunction with the Hutch mod to eliminate the parts of the fuel pickup that allow air to be sucked into the fuel lines when the tank is below 1/4 full. The Hutch mod will do away with the fuel intake screens found in the mixing chamber, so a pre-pump filter of about 2 micron's will also be needed. |
