Unhappy Help me build a monster tow rig

Hey everyone, first post here. Looks like a great place and can't wait to get involved.

I need some advice on a 2001 350 auto build. Truck will be used almost strictly for towing a 8000lb camper, occasionally with a boat behind the camper. Truck has 170k km on it, runs well but is certainly lacking power pulling grade.

Currently, I have the following plans.

Afe or k+n intake
Php tunes
Exhaust- any suggestions?
Gauges- thinking triple pod, auto meter???

What else would everyone suggest? I have 3k to play with here.

Power and reliability are key here.

Skip the AFE check out the diy intake. 50 bucks and some time. Check out PHPs hydra chip. Exhaust depends on how fancy you wanna get

Intake-6637 DIY ~50
Exhaust- I would suggest diamond eye and stainless if you live somewhere roads are salted. Aluminum works just fine for me as they don't use salt on the roads where I am. ~230 with no muffler
Php tunes are great, hydra is 375
Gauges- isspro or autometer are good 300-400
Right around a grand and you will notice a significant difference.
I just ordered a billet wheel which may help you as well for $200.
You shouldn't be anywhere near 3k unless the above mods leave you wanting more then you could order injectors but if you go big that opens up a whole new can of worms with necessary supporting mods.

01 f250CCSB, 285/75/16 GY duratracs, 4 inch diamond eye straight pipe, riff raff 6637, php Phoenix chip, tru-cool, riffraff billet wheel, isspro EGT gauge and torque app.

Sounds like you're on the right track, but didn't mention trans cooler. This post might be helpful also. Towing over the Northwests mountains?

bigger trans cooler and valve body for the trans. JW or BTS valve body.

diamond eye is 230 from alligator perf like jerry said

if smog laws are an issue AFE or S&B would be my choice, if not a 6637 kit would be fine.

isspro or autometer trans temp, pyrometer, boost, and if you want fuel pressure.

billet compressor wheel from dieselsite, riffraff, or bd.

you could do some 160/0 or 160/30 single shot injectors. everything above would be a supporting mod and make it run the injectors well.

6.0 trans cooler
4in exh (I'm getting dymond eye one of these days)
isso pro/autometer guages (trans temp, egt/pyro, and boost)
custom tunes/TS chip/sct with some custom tunes (not required but more hp/tq)
that'll get you started...but by the way 8k is nothing and you dont need anything but reg maint to pull that.

What this nation needs is cleaner thoughts and dirtier fingernails...

I just added...

-MBRP 4" turbo back
-PHP Hydra (with the php tunes)
-EGT and Boost gauges

I will be towing my trailer on Friday again (last towed the truck was stock on 35s) I can tell you that just driving the truck around if feels way better. My trailer is right at 8K lbs as well. Stock it towed it okay but big hills where a workout for sure.

I'll parrot what the others said....

Intake: Tymar/6637 or Ford AIS
Exhaust: 4" turbo back... don't worry about brand
Gauges: EGT, TFT, Boost
Tunes: Get some specific Tow tunes - I like my PHP Tunes
Cooling: 6.0 Trans cooler in place of the stock (26 or 31 row)
Brake Controller: Get a good one, I like my Tekonsha Prodigy
Hitch: Get a quality WDH with sway control for the Travel Trailer.
