PHP Hydra programming cable

Is this a special cable of some sort? $25.00 just seems a bit rich for what could possibly be a standard type cable. From the photos it looks to be a printer cable with a Type D connector on one end and a USB connector on the other end. Does anyone know?

Your Analysis is correct. They are standard USB cables. I purchased the extra cable from PHP to mount permanently under the steering wheel. After mounting it, I realized... the kit didn't have the now required male version of the cable to connect from the one I purchased from PHP and mounted to the bottom of the steering wheel to the computer. I believe what you call USB printer is a type A cable. I didn't have one, so I had to buy one. The kit should have come with all the cables.

In summary, you're correct, it's all standard USB.

After a little research I believe it is a Mini USB 5 pin Male to USB B Female. I'm not a cable expert by any means. I just started searching based on pictures.

It is not just the cable your getting. Your getting the mount so you can hard mount it as well. The cable is also not available right off the shelf anywhere I have looked. It has a hard 90* at the chip side so once connected it can be slid into the J3 port of the PCM. You wont get a standard plug in there.

IMHO with the cost of fuel these days, $25 for the cable, and mount is cheap...

I used a regular 3 foot cable I had laying around and tied it up under the dash. I can not slide the chip out of the computer with the cable hooked up but never plan to either.

When we first brought the extension cable option out, we didnt include the cable to attach to the computer from the extension due to the thought that with the present day acceptance of technology, everyone would have a printer in home. This cable needed is just simply a printer cable.

Due to the feedback that we have been getting about our customers inquiring about the cable and why it is not included, we have started to include the cable

If anyone has any feedback on something that they think would be a beneficial feature to the hydra chip / hydra system.. please shoot me a PM! I am always looking for ways to make our product more user friendly

They are readily available and less than $10.00. Not hard to find at all.

That's not the exact same cable you get from PHP but it will work by plugging right into your laptop.
