Chip Question

Hey guys. Total newbie here.

I have a 2000 F350 SCLB Automatic that just turned 100k miles. It's 100% stock and has been an awesome truck for years. I use it to tow my rock crawlers and for the occasional family trip. I spend most of my time at higher (6000-12000 feet) altitude. Could use some more power!

I'm looking to turn it up a bit now. I have an SBC intake and 4-5" Turbo Back exhaust ready to install. I'm also going to level it, cut-out-flare it, and run 35's.

Anyway, looking for advice on a 6-Position chip. And also wondering if I can run a digital screen-style gauge monitor into the OBDII port while the truck is running a chip.?? Or is it one or the other?

Thanks in advance for any help. READY TO BUY A CHIP OR TUNER ASAP!

yes you can use a chip and run a monitor.

kt perf sells ts 6 pos chips with php tunes for 300, if they have any left. otherwise i would look into powerstruck, 8 pos chip with custom tunes for 350.

then for a monitor most get a edge cs or cts and use it for gauges. this route is more expensive than typical autometer or isspro gauges but looks fancier.

Thanks for the advice!
Does this seem like a pretty nice deal? I hope it's OK to post the link. Seems legit, no?

I've heard canned TS tunes don't compare to tunes from PHP/Gearhead/Tony Wildman, ect.

Php hydra runs about 375 and you get all of the php tunes. You can also run tunes from other companies. All of the tunes can be sent by E-mail so you don't have to send your chip in for reburns if you need custom tunes.

Well I'm not looking for anything too complex. I just want to plug it in and go. I have zero knowledge of hooking up laptops to trucks and all that stuff. Just want some good power and tow tunes that I can switch on the fly.

So the Hydra looks like a favorite around here. Is that one pretty simple? Where is the best place to buy it? Does it come with tunes for $375?

Alligator performance has the best price at 375 or 400 if you want the USB cable so you can hook up your laptop without removing the PCM where the chip is installed. That price comes with 17 different tunes on it and you can have them pre load the tunes you want in order before they send it off and you just install and go. Install is very easy and they have a video tutorial to show you step by step. Just remember to get ALL the silicone off the metal contacts. My truck is like a brand new truck with it installed and will scoot for weighing around 8k pounds and will help tremendously with towing. They have different tow tunes for how much weight you have hooked up and if you have an automatic, it will have better shift points when towing. Overall very awesome product for 375
