Having new turbo installed - Should I do bellowed up pipes at the same time?

Hi:

I'm purchased a new turbo and am having my shop install it. The truck has ~ 93,000 miles. While I have the turbo off, do I need to have bellowed up-pipes installed as a preemptive service? The bellowed up-pipes aren't cheap but it's very labor intensive so the labor will be expensive. I'd rather not add this expense, but on the other hand, if I need to do it, it will be cheaper with the turbo already off.

To my knowledge, I don't have any leaks on my current / original stock turbo and up-pipes.

I wouldn't , and i have them. Not saying they are bad but between the cost of them and what you will pay in labor to replace the factory setup that sounds like has nothing wrong with it it just doesn't make sense to me ??? Your not really into any more labor down the road should you decide to do them later. When they do start leaking , then go ahead. Now , if spending the extra money doesn't really hurt you right now and you plan on keeping the truck for awhile then by all means throw some bellowed up-pipes on there today !

Sold 01 350 6" on 37's and mild mods, 00 X 4" on 35's, 02 f350 4" 35's modded from fan to drive shaft, ridin the 03 with nose conversion with 125k and counting upwards slowly.
Never had CNC's poo on any of it, never will.

I just completed this work on my 01' Excursion. I'd recommend to just do it now instead of waiting until you have an up pipe issue on down the road and then it'll cost you a bit more.

do it now or just replace the factory gaskets for now.

the problem is the gasket wears away and the pipe and y collector end up touching. when that happens it ruins the pipes and they wont seal right again.

for a drop in turbo just get int'l bellowed up pipes.

but if you go with a t4 setup later they come with different up pipes.

I'd definitely go ahead and do the up pipes now. I opted for the international pipes from riff raff, but guys have been have success using the dorman's of late. Plus you can get those from your local Oreilly's.

Thanks for all the replies folks. I decided to err on the side of caution and bought the Dorman up-pipe kit to be installed next week with the new turbo. I bought the Turbo from Barder Turbo and James Barder said the kit was ok, but the hardware wasn't so good. Apparently some of the bolts are too long and bottom out. So I'll do a test fitting off the truck and make sure the bolt aren't too long. I used an online coupon and got them for $151 from Advanced Auto.

In addition, I bought the RiffRaff Fuel Rail Crossover and the RiffRaff HPX Stainless Steel High Pressure Crossover (Oil crossover) to be installed at the same time.

It's my understanding that the bolt issue has been resolved for the most part.
