Stage 2's and 66mm turbo

I just put in Full Force 160/100 injectors and a 66mm turbo. I had the chip reburned by DP.
Now the truck sounds like its got a cam at idle and on tunes greater than 80e, it really smokes like crazy. Once the turbo gets up, it is fast and takes off.

Is this normal?

I've heard that DP sets up their tunes to go heavy throttle down low and that will make it smoke a lot as opposed to a more linear throttle input.

My PHP Hydra makes my truck sound like it cams out at idle sometimes

It must be normal then. I dont mind the low down fuel as long as my turbo would kick in faster to take advantage of it.

What EGT'S are you seeing? 160's shouldn't be smoking like that there's no reason for it

the dp tunes my friend has for 165/30's and stock turbo dont smoke.

dp tunes used to smoke like crazy i thought they went away from that and the touchy pedal tuning.

i would call and ask about different tunes.

My truck needed a little more ICP at idle to smooth it out. I had Jody bump it up from 480psi to 600 and it's been great.

My race tune smokes more than it should, but I believe that's just because my hpop has trouble holing 1600psi in that tune

What exhaust housing do you have? If you have a 1.15 housing with a 66mm compressor wheel you have the slowest spooling turbo possible.
When I talked to James at Barder, he told me that going to a 66mm on my turbo will push more air at high rpm, but it will take at least another couple hundred RPM to get there.

See if Jody will pull some low boost fuel levels, and let me know how it works out. Because I'm still on the fence about having Barder send me the 66mm kit

I asked Barder about the 1.00 and the 1.15 and he said the larger would keep egt's down plus better drive pressure.

What do you mean about pulling some low boost fuel levels?

I dont have any guages hooked up yet. I bought some used and they were missing parts, so I'm on the look out for more.

Should I look into going to a 1.0 housing and get rid of the 1.15 with adapter?

I'm getting used to it off the line, but while cruising I feel like I have no instant "go" when I want to pass, ect.

Keep the 1.15, just have the tunes adjusted and/or learn how to peddle to keep it out of the smoke
