I have to agree with the turbo whistle. It's cool driving around town, but long trips you better have a good sound system to dround it out. I have an early 99 with the smaller turbo and it's pushing 12-16 psi just cruising a 65-70 before I step on it to change lanes.

Cool Compressor wheel

I don't have mine on yet but this will be intresting. Most people have intakes that are open to the engine bay. This I believe is the reason for the noise. I have mine plumbed to the grille. I'll post my outcome when I get my lazy butt outside and think spring!!!

I guess I just got used to mine, since there is virtually no sound deadener in my cab (vinyl flooring). I'd venture to say my work truck is about the same.

The 94-97s don't have an upgraded wheel available because its the pre 1997 wheels everyone is copying for the later trucks. The WW, Banks or others are a replica of the pre 97 wheel. If I were you I'd look to upgrade the housing instead.

Cool compressor wheels

OK DOG, I have a new wheel now. If I change the housing, which wheel do I use?

hey 99smokin if you have an early 99' you already have the wicked wheel in there thats what the wicked wheel is a pre- 99.5 wheel so you should be good and that would explain the louder turbo noise. From all i've read, Ford changed the wheel in 99.5 because of complaints of loud turbo whine which equalled quieter turbo for 99.5 but also turbo surge.
