I have afe stage 2 intake, magnaflow exhaust and edge programmer and edge juice with attitude that has built in guages in a lcd screen, it all works great and the edge juice with gauges was only $150 more than pillar gauges and you can shift hp and torque settings on the fly. Also has built in protection that defuels truck if engine getting to hot and other things to protect the truck, can set exhaust temp so alarm goes off etc. etc. 2002 crew cab 4x4 46000 miles and 40 toy hauler

I just bought a 99 and am researching some performance mods. I looked at the edge juice programmer at a local truck shop, it seems like a really nice unit but, since I've been on this site everyone seems to favor the ts chip. I was wondering how these two programmers compare. Also is it important for me to do an exhaust and intake first or can those come later as I save up some money? I am looking mainly for extra pulling power and fuel mileage but, I'm sure I'll do a little racing too. Any help would be great.

Hey Worzy the TS chip is a great chip for that truck. I'd do an exhaust kit first as they're pretty restrictive versus the aftermarket kits. Magnaflow is what i'm using on mine. As for intakes, I used to be pretty gung ho about the aftermarket ones, but another member has convinced me otherwise. They're still good, but in order to flow so much better over stock the passages for the air to get through must be larger. Dust is a big killer of a diesel engine. So if you're going to go with something like an AFE, do go ahead and get the pre-filter. It'll help. I do think however that they might actually be close to what the factory filters do as far as filtration, but they just flow so much better because they might have double or more the filter surface area. But i'm not sure. Ford actually has an intake kit that is better than the factory kit. I think it's called a severe duty kit, but i'm not 100%. Also look at some guages. They're not really as super duper all out completely important as some people claim....unless you're towing. They're still necessary, but at the same time even the higher powered TS chip is just a chip, a mild mod when compared to some of these trucks that are running all sorts of modifications. I do recommend you have them before you do any racing. I've had my truck for over a year and still don't have guages and it's been chipped the entire time....no problems. I will get some guages soon, when the money permits. EGT's a good thing to watch and if you get over paranoid like some, maybe just get the guages before the chip. Adding an exhaust and intake is going to further reduce exhaust temps.

Hey guys will a chip from a 2000 f350 automatic work in my 2002 f350 automatic? I have a buddy that will give me his diablo chip if it will work in mine since he is trading his truck. It is a 3 tune chip, just generic tunes nothing custom done for his truck.

Hey Pro. The chip will most likely work on your rig. Try it out first before you buy it to make sure.

He is just going to give it to me. No money exhange. He just feels he would rather give it to a friend than the car dealer he trades the truck at. It is only 35, 50, and 75 I think, but hey it's free horsepower.

Can it do any major damage trying it? What signs should I look for that my truck does not like it or is not compatible with the chip?

Is there some sort of a service phone number or a part number on it? You could call the manufacturer and ask them directly.

I will have to ask him for the part number. I also have the chance to buy a MBRP dual kit for like 200. The only problem is it is for a regular cab and mine is crew. I was thinking I could just weld in an extension piece in the straight pipe to make it the length I need it and it would probably be fine. What do you guys think?
