Turbo O-Ring

Alright guys getting ready to change my o-ring that has gone bad. I assume its on the turbo, from what i have heard its the most common oil leak on the 7.3. So what all should i expect as far as diffculty? Do i need to go to the ford dealership to make sure i get the right o-ring? Any special tools, and i will take any helpful hints also.

if youre talking about the o rings under the turbo then yes they are easy to change just a little time consuming. get both sets of o rings and do the ones under the pedestal as well so you dont have to re take the turbo out later. so youll need to sets of the same o rings just one set will be black and the other yellow "usually". if you havent already check out the stick threads in the top of the 7.3 section and watch maintain's video on how to take out the turbo. its only like 3 minutes long and he makes it look really easy but he has done about a 1000 times judging by the video. just take out the i/c pipes intake hoses and remove the intake spider and then unbolt the turbo exhaust clamp and up pipe clamp. take your time and enjoy.....

Way too far lmao.

You gotta pull the turbo so get a can of pb blaster and spray down the uppipe clamp and downpipe clamp real good every day for a few days before you attempt to pull it.

There are video and written how-to's in the tech files.

I got mine at the ford dealer. It was about $10 for a set. I was thinking, "Wow, it only cost $10..", and my friend that was working with me said "HOLY SH*T! $10 for o-rings?". He's an old school chevy mechanic, and not quite used to working on diesels (or new vehicles for that matter). I was just happy to get the parts the same day I needed them.
