Would a power inverter off the battery's of a truck run the block heater if u put a Timer on it set at 1 hour before u left work to warm the block. Is it a dumb idea when u have to park ur truck n a lot n leave it for 10 hours a day when it can't b plugged n when it 10 outside?

To limit the chance of killing your battery, I would suggest doing what you said, but with a spare battery in the bed. Trickle charge that battery when you're home for the night.

Or, get a battery select switch mounted in the cab and disconnect whichever battery you have the inverter connected to.
