I know its funny but I have the worst luck with vehicles. I take such good care of them and then they treat me like crap. I try to make my questions comical, only because I seem slightly retarted. I still have no idea what is in the trans, it feels like it has some sort of shift kit but I havent taken the pan off yet...... Thanks for the help, this will be fun!!

TW as well as DP and any quality tuner will adjust shift patterns and line pressures with their tunes, but this in no way is a guranttee that your slushbox can handle the extra power!! As I have said over and over again, There are No Crystal Balls!!!! If you have a tuned VB you need to tell the tuner this because they will leave off many of the trans variables. There are two ways to tweak the stock trans, electronically and mechanically, but in the end there is no gurantee your trans is going to last 150K, or 15 K or 15 miles for that matter. Just as there's no guranttee how long a stock trans will last. If you take advantage of the extra ponies at every stop light I promise you your trans will give up the ghost soon. The 4R100 is the weak link in our powertrain.

NCH

Aside from the belittlement, NCH, you're talking about 2 different things. We all know, whether it's the E4OD or 4R100, tuned or stock, our transmissions are on the road to peril. But the manner he had asked the question seemed like he was asking if the trans. tunes themselves, NOT the power going through it, would kill his tranny. I wasn't garunteeing longevity in any way, shape, or form. You've been EXCELLENT help for me through many other problems, but read into these posts a little more, before you hop on someone & try to make them look like an idiot....

I didnt take any offense to anything, if anything my own lack of knowledge is funny. I am more familiar with the other crappy ford transmission, the 4r70w. I have not had an issue with that ever and I beat the piss out of that truck. I really need to find out the insides of mine, that would put my mind to rest. It shifts like it has a kit, even in the stock position, so hopefully it has something, its only got 60k on it but with no paperwork. I just realized that if I wanted a shift kit that I would have to get the chip re-burned and maybe I should have worried about the one thing before the other, but thats ok. I will live with it for now.

I do most of the work to my truck by myself or with buddies, its just when it comes to transmissions the only thing I understand is that they are susposed to be cool and not hot and what they feel like when they are crapping out, something my explorer was very good at. I have never really had experience with a chip because I have a large odd shaped hypertch programmer for my f150 and I only use it for the tire/ratio size from the big tires and such. There was never a performance gain that compares to anything my powerstroke has done so far. I will keep on reading and learning, that appears to be what I am doing with a lot of things now, owning a new house and gutting things is quite the learning experience also.

Thanks to everyone for all your help!!!!

It took about seven weeks too get it back. But well worth the wait. The truck shifts better, and the egts are down while pulling.
