Edge + 10k mod = BAD

A guy I know has a powerstroke and uh ... I'd be lieing if I said he's the sharpest tool in the shed ........ but he bought this Edge box for his truck, spent like $600 for it with the fancy monitor and all that. But he also so all the extra power/boost/smoke I was making with my 5.6k resistor.

So he installed his Edge .... with the resistor in the ICP sensor ..... (keep in mind the edge plugs in there to do the same damn thing) and he completely fried it. He hooked it up to my truck (resistor removed) and it did absolutely nothing, my SES light stayed on, and he said "Dude, you notice anything different???" I said "Yeah. It's friggin stock again" it had a smooooth stock idle and NO smoke to speak of, nothing.


So I thought I'd throw it out there that I don't recommend trying to run a chip/programmer/tuner whatever that plugs into your ICP sensor WITH any version of the 10k Mod. He's not happy he spent 600 bucks on a chip deal and then spent a dollar on a resistor and ruined it.

Tell him to take it as a Sign. He sould of bought a DP or TW. Edges chip sucks anyhow. But good tip

Yeah I did. I said "Yeah go Edge! I told you man, I told you." Maybe a tad rude but I also told him, "You're just stubborn, maybe next time you should LISTEN to someone who knows what they're talking about..." He understood though, I think he didn't know HOW the stuff worked just that it did, plug n' play y'know, that's what messes people up.

I would. But TW is a better chip than Edge so consider yourself lucky maybe. I dunno.

its a resistor that slides into the ICP sensor. Edge EZ is an expensive type of 10k mod. As is the Banks 6-Gun. Costs next to nothing. Its for those who don't have a chip, want some smoke, and a lopey idle. Personally, I'd skip it and do a TW/DP/DI chip

it wasn't the 10k resistor that screwed my edge it was a $50 Dfuser part that has since become obsilete
