I've been trying to find more specs in order to see a common way of measuring the filters. I have the DIY because I did it for $35 and it is rated extremely well. The S&B may flow more air, but I'm not sure I'd need more flow. The AIS looks good because of the airflow, and I wanted 99.9% filtering efficiency.

But the DIY seems to be a really good balance between filtering and airflow. I could spend the $200+ for either the AIS or S&B, but I haven't found information that would suggest either would be any better than DIY. The DIY filter will cost me <$32 the next time I change the filter.

In addition, you can check/compare the quality of air filtration by the silicon levels on your used oil analysis reports. IIRC, you (Snakyjake) mentioned doing UOA in the past.

Thanks White Buffalo. Definitely will be checking in the UA. However, I'm skeptical. I assume a bypass oil filter will be scrubbing some of the silicon out of the oil. Not sure of the silicon micron size, and if the filter will be scrubbing at that level.

From what I've read from others, the DIY/6637 silicon levels are below 5. I believe 5 is below normal/average, and no one has reported better than 5 with another filter system.

Based on all the specs, data, and user experience, it is extremely difficult to beat the 6637 for normal use....Unless you drive in dusty conditions or have a high HP engine.

The top choices for a mild modded truck would be AIS, AFE P7, S&B, 6637.
I wish I could find the thread, those "Flow" numbers are not all that accurate, the 6637 FLOWS just as well as any other, and filters as good or better than some. The bench they use to test flow rates, is not a comparable setup to our trucks. Any company can make their filter look better on paper.

I know only one thing, the 6637 filters down to a silicon number of 5 on my truck in a 6k mile oil change interval,, that's excellent filtration.

And on my truck with the "Extreme" Cale burn on my TS chip, (He said at least a 120hp) it smokes like a freight train on initial flooring of it, but at about 20 lbs of boost, it clears to a light haze,, so it's gettin ALL the air it needs. (I have seen higher HP trucks do the same thing.

So anyone looking for an intake, can spend 300 or so for one,, or 50.00 for an EXCELLENT setup, and have 250 to spend elsewhere on their truck.

Under 20 ppm is considered normal. The AIS, AFE, and 6637 have all consistently shown great results on a 5,000 mile oil sample regardless of having a bypass system installed or not. I haven't seen any UOA reports from folks running the S&B - but curious to see how it compares.

On my PSD running the AIS I have seen silicon as low as 2ppm and on one report showed 0 ppm over the oil baseline, most reports showed around 5 for me - 3/4 highway driving and 1/4 dirt roads.

The 6637 setup I have on now has shown 5 or 6 ppm.
