97 motor

So i found a 97 motor with only 5000 miles on it!!!!! or so the guy claimes. he said the truck was smashed in 98 and has been sitting ever since. what should i look for when i see the engine? the kicker here is he only wants 1300 bucks for it. its a 3 hour drive for me to look at it, so do yall think its a scam or what?

I wonder what an engine that never ran sitting in its own oil looks like 10 years later.

Maybe some kind of engine flush? For 1300 could be a fun project

Shot for 1300 you could take it apart clean it and replace all the seals and you would pretty much have a brand new motor

Another good question to is has the motor been kept out of the weather or sitting in the guys back yard??
