transmission shifts hard

A have a 2000 f250 7.3 with 156000 miles. And I have a ts 6 pos. Chip. And my transmission shifts hard when I turn it on 100 or 140 but it shifts good and smooth on 50 and 75. What would make it do that would I just need a valve body or a new transmission.

A valve body would be a good idea to help your tranny last longer and stay healthy.

But technically you really should contact your tuner and talk to them, they can tweak things for each tune so i would call them and talk it out. More than likely they will be able to get you fixed up.

Those are supposedly race tunes on the generic you will also notice at idle with the 140 you will idle up but if you still wanna run those tunes I would at least put a shift kit in the shifting will be stiffer but still jerky

Because the line pressure is raised up in the tunes on the higher hp tunes to help the trans to keep from slipping. It can be to much on some trucks. When you say hard shifting is it neck snapping or just real firm?

Sounds like the springs are getting weak in the valve body and bottoming out due to the higher line pressure being called for.

You, like me need a valve body. I was having some what I thought was hard shifting before I got my PHP Hydra, and was thinking that the tuning would correct the problem along with the extra HP, but it didn't and Bill spent a few hours trying too tweak the transmission, but in the end I will need too install a JW valve body.

Have you had valve body install priced at all? Wondering what it would run to have it installed? The valve bodies aren't that expensive but is install difficult or expensive?

Very easy to install. About 1-2hrs depending on how OCD you are about being clean.

BTS has an install PDF download.
