reasonable request?

just a small rant here. I sent my last turbo out to TN, and they're looking at it. But I still have another one (also broken), so I called to ask if I could trade both of them in for one that would fit my new truck ('06 Dodge). It's that, or they're gonna wind up sending me two turbos. It makes sense to me, they get two back to try and use the parts, and only have to send one out, and we're both happy. The guy in the cust. service dept. wasn't too helpful, and just said no. I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to, and he said no, he was the only one who could make that call. So I said "let me get this straight, you'd rather send me TWO free turbos than one?". He said "Yeah". I was dumbfounded.

Does that seem odd to anyone else? Common sense tells me two for one is always better, and everyone is happy. On top of that, the cummins turbos are smaller, and don't cost as much, so they woulda come out WAY ahead. The lack of willingness to help just ticked me off a little, seeing this is the fourth TN turbo I've had in a year. It also makes me feel sorry for the guy that owns the place, cuz he's got people working for him that are willingly costing the company more money just because it makes the paper work easier. rant over, anybody want a deal on two turbos?

This reminds me of that story. A father gives his son a 1 dollar bill, the son trades it for 2 quarters because 2 is better then one, this goes on until the son returns with 3 dimes. The dad freaks out.

Well bottomline is those 2 turbos maybe cheaper then the one your requesting.

The one I was going to request is actually cheaper by about $100 than a single TN BB. Maybe the guy was having a bad day, I don't know. I'm going to try and talk to the girl I've dealt with before next week, hopefully with better luck

Devils Advocate speaking - Why would they take 2 busted and used turbos in exchange for a new Dodge turbo? Its alot harder to resell a rebuilt turbo. This is of course hinging on the idea that the turbo they would send you is new. If they're all rebuilt, then my god hes a fool.

The whole things seems a bit odd. I'd probably say no if I was TN also.

??How is this odd?? To recap, I have 2 turbos that are broken. They will be warrantied. TN will be sending me 2 to replace them. I don't have any use for either and will be selling both. Or they could send me one for my new truck, which, according to black widow's website, is cheaper. please explain how this is odd.

I was assuming they would be sending new turbos, which is probably incorrect. They may not want to swap a new one for two rebuilds, but I'd be happy with a rebuilt cummins turbo. the conversation never even got to which turbo I wanted.

It's just that in this day and age, people aren't as trustful as in the past. I'm SERIOUSLY debating your TN. But, I'd want to see it first and haggle a bit on the price.
