7.3 Waste Gate Control VS Wicked Wheel
Help Guy's,
Turbo Surge and the cure??? In the process of going through the first upgrade stage for this year, on my 2000 Super Duty 7.3 with 6spd 4X4. Typical upgrades, intake, exhaust, 6.0 cooler, minor upgrades on fuel system and DP tuner. Now the turbo surge is not too bad with the stock motor currently except when towing 6,000 lbs up a 8% grade then you begin to notice it. I am looking for options, at how best to eliminate this till next years turbo upgrade to a GT38R with more fuel and injectors. ![]() Looking for some experienced information with the Turbo Master Waste Gate Mechanical control. I have read up on there web site about what there control devise accomplishes. Read the reviews ..... is there any one on this list using this unit on there stock 7.3 Garrett Turbo??? Has any one used both TMWGC with a upgraded "Wicked Wheel"? If so what was your experience with this??? Good or ??? Thank You, John http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=875 |

Appreciate the info guys. Sounds as though it is going to be a Wicked Wheel and the Turbo Master Waste Gate Mechanical control till next year when I can spend more $$$. Just wanted to say Taylor, Your new wheels and tires look great on that truck of yours. I noticed you put an O8 tail gate on that as well. I have been searching for one and the ladder set up. I believe I have located one. $$$$ and time. CSIPSD, I noticed your HP and Torque Numbers you have at the end of description. Was it necessary to install Head Studs and Valve springs with 450 + HP??? The goal for my truck, is about that for next year. John |

If you can make 450hp below 40# boost then no, but at or around 40# the stock head bolts lift, and the valves start to float... Penrose huh... my brother in law lives there... Next time I am out there I will shoot you a message. |

CSPISD, Yes Penrose ..... nice quite small little town inbetween Colorado Springs and Canon City and Pueblo. Sits right in the middle of the of those three cities. Right now it is very green here, 85 with 12 to 20% humidity depending on if you get a quick thunder shower in the late afternoon. I moved my family from Western Washington State. I really was tired of the rain and most climate. Here we have 350 days of sun on the average. Annual rain is 16" of rain. If you do come out to visit your brother in law, please let me know. I would think it great to talk trucks and motors. Learned some thing today. Did not realize 40#'s was the threshold for head bolts and valve float. If I were to stay at 35# and use Digital Propane Injection???? I have not spoken to any one with DPI yet, just read about it. Worth up too 100hp and with variable levels according to what the demand is calling for and with safety limits as well. Though I suppose for the price of the DPI I could have done the studs and valve springs and had $ left over.. Had you considered DPI before going with studs and valve springs??? John |
