Different Tunes- Worth It?

I have a DiabloSport Predator that came with my truck when I bought it. On the 110hp tune, I was able to run a 15.18 1/4 time on a fairly cool day. I cannot stand the way this thing shifts at WOT however. The truck will run up to 3k rpm, hang for a second, and absolutely slam into the next gear. The added power with these tunes seems to be an on-off switch. The power delivery is not linear. Now, I barely use the chip, just the 110hp when racing. For the 3-4 times a year I use it, is it worth buying a 6 position from somebody like PHP? Would the drivability be that much different from the Diablo to the point where I would run a tune more often? Would the power be any better? Just trying to decide if it is worth buying a different set up when I already have a programmer.

Already blew the trans up doing mud drags a couple months ago! Haven't had the programmer on since the rebuild. I'm scared to DD with one of these tunes in.

Love my PHP tunes. Cant comment on tranmission casue i have a manual but my PHP tunes are great. Truck runs like its stock until you get into it and it really comes alive! Increased my MPG by about 1.5 also so that a plus.

All out power wise my Superchips was pretty close but the way the PHP tunes deliver the power is quite amazing. I noticed a huge improvement in my bottom and mid range power from the Superchips.

php transmission tuning is much better than stock. but it wont slam into gear either.

quicker shifts, firmer shifts.

id say php or Tony wildman would be good choices.

If you had a nice daily drive tune you would run it all the time then get a tow, race and/or exteme tune and you will be happy.

I'm pretty sure the diablo accepts custom tunes like an SCT does.
Does anyone we like write custom tunes for the Diablo?

PIS 175/80's, Van Turbo with EBPV, BD Billet Wheel
Lots of money spent at RiffRaff
Holley fuel pump, in tank mods, crappy riding leveling kit, DP-F6, 5 Gauges+Edge CS in dash, CB radio in Dash, over 100 goofy little mods
Still pretty slow, just less slow now.

Never heard of this.

op get good custom tunes and you won't worry about blowing anything up. Tuning is the biggest thing that will make a truck safe at any power level.

I have a TS 6pos chip that I had to get re-burned due to transmission issues. I was able to find a guy local to me that is obsessed with 7.3 programming.

His programming makes the TS canned tunes seem like something a 16 year old kid would do. I used to think there wasn't much difference between brands.
