BTS is great too...

RUN, dont walk away from ATS...

If I had to buy one already built then I would go with JW or BTS.

I went with a local builder for the fact that shipping for the trans and the core would suck to pay for. Plus if I have any issues then my local shop (who carries the warrenty and replaces the fluids every 20K for free) is close at hand.

Ive heard good things about JW and BTS. BUt lots of bad things about ATS. FYI if you run anything other than ATS products on your truck your warranty will be void.MY neighbor has an ATS trans Aurora 4000 turbo, ATS injectors and some other stuff on his dodge and absolutely hates it. He and I were disuccing what he will be changing to in the near future the other day

I love my John Wood transmission. He has done all the upgrades and crap to my trans for free as I have added more power. BTS is good. Suncoast has had some problems lately with billet parts lately. My buddie with a powerstroke broke two billet intermediate shafts and 1 billet input shafts in the last 60days. Another buddie with a cumm-a-part broke a billet intermediate shaft less than 30days ago. Stay away from ATS. BD is way overpriced for what you get, which ain't much and their warranty sucks.

A little story:
I had a local shop do a "high performance upgrade" to a new stock ford reman, exactly 11 miles on the transmission. They said it would hold up to 450hp with no problem. It died with only 338hp behind it in 70K(2 1/2 years) and they said "so sorry charlie". Beware of the local guy that says I will take care of you. That has fukked both my father and I on transmissions. My dad's 97 was totally stock and his trans lasted 13months and 15K miles.

Rant over.......

I put a BTS tranny in finally after toasting 3 stock ones. The BTS is flat out sweet! Shifts are very nice and I haul a 38' 5th wheel toyhauler that when loaded down is around 16K.. I pulled several steep passes last weekend and with it being 91* outside, my tranny never got over 180-185*.

I've got a BTS and wouldn't think twice for another if I had to do it again!
