Long story short a buddy has to sell his rig and is letting me take parts off it before he does.
He is letting me swap his 38R for my stocker with the ATS ported housing and Billet wheel.
I talked to Jay with PHP and he said that since the 38R is a drop in replacement i wont gain much having my chip reburned except they can add more fuel in the top end.
Question, if you were to put a 38R in with the mods i have and do nothing else at the moment would you have your tunes updated? Its only $25 per tune so not too bad. Anyone do this and drive the truck after turbo install but before they got reburned chip? Any noticible difference? Is it worth sending it in? Jay kinda made it sound like its not really worth it. Most vendors would just want your money and say it would need to be done. I respect Jay a lot for being honest.
Im also curious if anyone has done what im about to do and how much of a performance gain did they notice? Am i going to notice a big power improvement or do i need to get new injectors to really get anything out of it?
I would like to get injectors in the future and really was not planning to upgrade the turbo but i could not pass this deal up.
