is 5" tb overkill?

on a midly built 01 psd with tw tunes and s&b intake will a 5" exhaust make a difference at all over a 4". ive heard unless your pushing serious horse power a 4" is going to do just as good as a 5", and putting a 5" on a mild psd may hurt you, is this true?

I don't think it will hurt you, but 4" is big enough, that what most people run

5" will gain you nothing until you go with alot bigger sticks, turbo, and fuel source. Stick with 4" SS. Get yourself a good Stainless system.

5in. is just for braggin if any thing youll probally loose a little power stick with the 4in.

Somebody forgot to tell me this. I run a 3.5" DP and 4" piping up to my 5" stack. I have no EGT issues even when towing, if I keep it in my tow tunes.

I wonder if my Modded H2E, B codes, big oil and full fuel system count as "a lot bigger".

I was trying to say that the poster has read some and not enough to make a statement like that. I know no turbo kits sold for the powerstroke that use a 5" DP. The H2E's, S300's, GT4* turbos and T series turbonetics all use a 3.5" or 4" depending on the outlet housing selected.

And the stock turbo out let is only 2.8", no matter what the down pipe size is that is all it will flow. Even if you put a 3.2" high flow outlet on it it still is less than a 3.5" DP. I have installed 3.5" and 4" DP's on trucks and both run the same for EGT's. Are you saying that the thermodynamics for a stock turbo require a 5" down pipe? What about the low end torque loss felt by some after installing a 4" DP?
