Wix air filter too big?

So i got my new filter in the mail today and it is appearing to be too big. The number on the box says 546637 and i know 6637 should be the right size.. any input would be helpful

it does look huge when you first get it. but it fits in their like a glove.

it looks like you wont be using the box. just remove the box and hook the new filter upto the intake tube.

k and n kits dont come with a box like that. so im guessing the previous owner just installed a k and n filter in some other type of box.

So I took out the box. Do i gotta take out the base that goes around the battery also? Because she still doesn't fit

Calling it quits for tonight. Looks like the only way it'll fit is if i cut off the back side of the battery box at the bottom. Did you have to do that on yours?

I just did mine yesterday; with just the air box section removed, the bottom mounting "humps" for it held the filter too high. I didn't really want to cut it so I just removed the battery box sections also and used a generic batt tray. Plenty of room then, although I could've gotten away with hacking off those two humps or at least the outer one towards the fenderwell.
Not even sure if any of that is applicable to your setup, but that's what I ran into. Good luck
