High Mileage??

On my 2000 F-350. Its a 4x4 CC/LB Duals in the rear with the 6 speed. The motor has 173000 miles on it. It still runs great except for a minor exhaust leak which will be fixed soon. I'm thinking about getting the Edge Juice w/Attitdue package for it. I Don't want to "Supe" it up. I didnt buy it to race. I have a 78 chevy 4x4 mud toy that I plan on hauling behind it and want a litle extra in the towing department. I know the miles aren't extremely high but I'm just curious to know if anyone else has a higher mileage 7.3 with the same setup so I can know what to expect. Or maybe A different route to take (like another chip etc...) It already has a strait pipe exhaust with the stock pipe 3" I think(never actually mesasured it). Any advise will be appreciated.

Stock is 3.5." Straight piping it like you have will give you about 70% of the benefit of a full 4" tb system.

Edge has internal gauges and makes decent power. Analog gauges and a flip chip may suite your needs better though since you can change your power settings while driving. It's up to you, there are alot of options out there!

hit the wrong button i guess, you'll like the dramatic improvement with the chip and if ya really want to help your pulling power put a 4 inch straight on your truck. i know a guy with a truck like urs and 218000 miles and he can take off in 3rd gear it's got so much torque. eventually look into getting an exhaust gas temp gauge to monitor your engine. and i heard more than one person say they dont want to supe up ther engine, but onece you get the bug, theres no going back or off the thottle for that matter

John I have 180K miles on mine and everything is running fine. Mine is 7.3 but 3/4 ton truck. I have stock exhaust no chip but will get both when I can afford to. I purchased my truck used so I haven't had it long.

Maintain don't you need the back pressure from a catback for pulling? I really don't know but I've heard it's not good to have a strait exhaust if you are going to be doing some heavy pulling. Please advise.

On a 6.0, you will be gambling if you don't keep some back pressure. Some people end up throwing an EGR code on those...some others have no issues. On a 7.3, I havn'e theard anyone mention a problem with straight pipes.

Mine has a muffler, but it's straight thru (no cats on the 99.5+ - 03 7.3's). I do get SES lights when I hold it WOT, but they go away in about 2 minutes. I think tit's from the chip that it used to have since I used to get it to FLICKER under hard acceleration w/ no intake/exhaust.
