What other info does block s/n help decode?

So, I found my block serial number and verified it to be well before forged rods were in the picture. What other info would the production serial number on the block help you decode for engine internals? better vs weaker injectors , bad engineering design on sealing surface etc? I know manufacturers are always changing little things along the way, I just didn't know what else the number could decode. Thanks for any insight.

The block gets pulled from a big pile to be built...

Your 2000 should have Forged Rods and will have AD injectors...
