We'll need some more info about the truck and chip, and please clarify your question.

it is a 99 f-350 turbo 4x4 with 250,000 miles on it. it is completely stock with just a stock K&N drop in filter, i bought a banks 4 position chip off ebay and was wondering if i would have to get it reflashed. also would i have to worry about egt or transmission problems when using the chip on the first two levels or the 3rd and 4th for short periods of time(at a stop light witha c civic next to me)

How long has that K&N drop in been in there?

With 250,000 miles, and still going strong I assume the truck has been maintained well. You should be able to turn the chip up all the way up, but you'll probably slip the clutch. I haven't heard anything about the chip like that needing to be reflashed b/c you have manual instead of an auto, especially on a "generic" chip like that. I know some "custom" tuners ie: Dp tuner has 2 different "econo" files, one is for manual trans and the other is for automatics. He also has variations that are better for intown fuel mileage or on hwy fuel mileage. But that's getting off point, I guess the answer would be no... but I could be wrong.

LukeKline is the pre99 knowledge base on this site, hopefully he can add to this.

It is always advised that when ever you start modeding these trucks, that you have some guages. Boost, Tranny temp if an Auto, and EGT. Those are the most common ones, but there are several others. Are there guys out there running chips without guages and not having any problems, I am sure there are, But I would rather know what my truck is doing and not wait on it to go boom to find out.

99 turbo few questions

Ok 99turbo4x4 you forgot to mention what kind of tranny you have.

it is a 99 f-350 turbo 4x4 with 250,000 miles on it. it is completely stock with just a stock K&N drop in filter, i bought a banks 4 position chip off ebay and was wondering if i would have to get it reflashed. also would i have to worry about egt or transmission problems when using the chip on the first two levels or the 3rd and 4th for short periods of time(at a stop light witha c civic next to me)

You stated your truck is a 99 F-350 Turbo 4x4 but you did not mention if it is manual or auto. If your truck is auto then most likely yes you will have to either get a different chip or have the one you got reflashed for auto trans. If you have a manual trans then you should have no problem running that chip. But remember this your truck has 250,000 miles on it. Right now it runs good with no problems. I can understand wanting to play around and doing mods heck I didn't do my first major mod until I reached 100,000 miles. But 250,000 I wouldn't definatley get gauges. Internal parts maybe weak and they may break. I say you can install it and run it with no problem in setting 1 and 2 but I would not use 3 and 4 till you at least have gauges. Just my little thought and 2 cents ok more like 10 cents but either way. If your truck is automatic you may have to reprogram that chip. You may also have to reprogram that chip because it is for a 2001 and yours is a 99. I don't really know. But I do know that if it is for a manual and you have an automatic it will not work properly.
