Rookie 7.3 owner with performance ?'s

I have a '02 f-350 7.3 with 43,000 miles on and was just wondering if I am going to be going the right route here. I've been reading on here for some ideas and it just sounds to me that I should be going with MBRP s6200plm 4" straight pipes turbo back, AFE stage 2 cold air intake system Type xp54-10192, and a PHP Phoenix chip... Right?

Also, gauges, not sure which ones to get and what they will be doing and what I will be looking for on them? Like I said I am new at all of this but would like to learn some more so any help would be awesome!

youve pretty much got it covered.
i just got diamond eye 4 inch from alligator performance for only 258. second diamond eye system ive installed and they have both been easy installs.

i like my S&B intake but if you want to save money you can go with the 6637 intake from riffraff.

and php phoenix is a good choice

for gauges i would say autometer or isspro. both are good.

What gauges do you suggest to get for monitoring? Thinking about going with glowshift also...

I have EGT Trans temp and Boost these are the most important ones you can use,you also go for a fourth one if you choose.

My truck has a factory trans temp gauge already. Any other suggestions for two more for future use and current use?

arp, I wouldn't trust your factory trans temp gauge. They're noted to not be as reliable as an aftermarket. What phone do you have? If it's an Android, you can run the Torque application to monitor a lot (Click here to see what Torque is).

Note: Even though Torque is great, I still think having actual gauges is a great idea.

PS, I haven't heard anything really positive about Glowshift. I've read several threads about their troubles/reliability. ISSPRO has a great reputation. I run the EV2 (EGT, Boost, Trans) windshield mount and haven't ever had an issue.

I did very similar mods to what you're suggesting and am very happy with results. 6637 intake, 4 inch straight pipe exhaust, gauges and Phoenix chip. Glowshifts are cheap and mine haven't had any issues yet. They are half the price of the big names. Not pushing them, but it's what I went with.

01 f250CCSB, 285/75/16 GY duratracs, 4 inch diamond eye straight pipe, riff raff 6637, php Phoenix chip, tru-cool, riffraff billet wheel, isspro EGT gauge and torque app.

Your on the right track, I installed the ISSPRO gauges from Diesel Manor, one other mod you might want too look into is upgrading your transmission cooler with the 6.0L cooler, your tranny will love you for it.

Sounds Good, thanks for the input! I decided to go with the donaldson b085011 through filterspro.com, it is a disabled veteran owned business and they are awesome to work with! I called just looking if they had any distributors up my way and they didnt, but I asked him if they did military discount and it was an extra 10% off the $25 the filter costs! So for all you military guys/gals out there along with myself here is a awesome place to order from and excellent people that you get to talk too!

I would steer clear of GlowShift gauges. Mine worked good for a solid year, now the only gauge that works is the boost. The trans temp and EGT gauges went on the fritz at least a year ago, and now they just sit maxed out on the peg.
