Newbie with some questions

I have a 2000 f-250 that is bone stock . I have a few DIY mods and things in mind to do starting with 4" downpipe. My question is if I buy just a 4" downpipe will it bolt right up or do i have to get any other parts to make this work? Also can i run just a downpipe without any additional exhaust pipe ? How loud would this type of set up be? I will be doing the DIY tylar intake ,wastegate delete ,and zoodad mod ,at the same time as the downpipe. What kind of difference can i expect to see if any. I have seen the +90 hp tuners($100) and boost fooler ($35) on e-bay and was thinking of trying one does anyone have any expierience with these ? Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

The 4" d/p will bolt up just takes a wee bit of wigglin to get her in. The DIY intake will make big difference in air flow, the wastgate mod will increase boost a little( i felt no difference ), the zoodad mod will help lower egt's a little bit. Can't help w/ the 90 chip , saved up and went DP-tuner with John Wood VB at same time , all I can say on that combo is holy sh!#.

I would stay away from the $90 tuner/chip POS. It is an over glorified "10K mod" that they gouge you for the price of a $1 resistor. The boost fooler is the same thing, it is a 4.7V zenier diode that costs $1. Don't waste your money on that junk.

The 10K mod and the Zenier diode mod are in the mod/tech section of this site. Save the money and do it yourself.

The 4" down pipe will need an adaptor to go from a 4" down pipe to your stock piping. You will have to measure it but I believe it is 3" but could be 3.5".

Don't forget gauges before any performance mods

I would go in this order:
~DIY intake
~Gauges Boost and pyro
~Exhaust 4in dp will bolt right up to the turbo, but like strokin already said it won't fit your stok pipe on the other end
~10K mod till you can get some tuning done
~DP tuner or Tony Wildman tunes
~DIY Boost fooler

And there is a ton of stuff you can do inbetween all that(ccv mod, zoodad, W/G delete, foil, etc...) but those are the major ones.

Good Luck and to the .Org!!

I always for get to mention that. I have come to think gauges are an automatic addition.

Thanks for the advice, I will eventually be putting stacks on the truck but until then I am thinking of taking the stock exhaust completely off and running a down tube only . How loud do you think this would be and would there be any adverse effects on performace? Does anyone know if there is a link or write up on through the hood exhaust as i think those look awesome and have considered doing it . As always thanks for any help.

I think that would be awful loud in the cab. It may be illegal also. I know here your exhaust has to exit some where behind the cab of the truck. You could run a short straight pipe and do the stump mod and dump it under the truck...

I'm pretty sure the through the hood exhaust is illegal on a street truck plus unnecessary unless your spending about $15,000 on very high performance mods.
If it were me I'd take it to a local muffler shop and pay them about $50 to cut the muffler (and cat if it has one) off and weld in a straight pipe in for now.
