? for tranny pros

Alright guys, I have asked questions , studied info, and have gotten opinions both ways. I have no problems now with my Tranny. My question is Do I dare install upgraded Torque converter with my few mods? Will it extend tranny life? I have been told NO because stock converter and tranny dwsigned to work together. I have been told YES because New tc has no slip and can handle more torque. I have been told NO because weaker tranny components will give away. I have tried to understand how tc works and decide myself what is best. When I do go out and play a little, I never see temps over 170 on the Quadzilla. What is the safe range? I am now appealing to you guys for your opinion and why you say yes or no. OH, by the way, changing tc and tranny aint an option. I want to stay married!!! Thanks guys in advance.

170 is not hot. It is my understanding that if you install a NEW BUILT T/C Like an ATS 5star that you will be putting incredible stress on the rest of the stock transmission components. I think a safer way to go would be to install a valvebody or shift kit, which will give you better/quicker shifts and also increase line pressures. If your seals aren't already worn out, increased line pressures will extend their life, but if they're already worn or slipping will more rapidly deteriorate them.

Forgot to add this:

Transmission operating temperatures under 200 are great and anything over 230 will likely cause permanent damage.
